We had the last cup of coffee at our 3521 Walker/U of M location on August 1st, 2008. Although we still hope to get a lease at a new space, this has not happened yet. We will keep you posted on MySpace and the website. Open Mic on Monday evenings are being held at the house in East Memphis. Beginning January 25th, 2009, we will host a local band(s) performance at the Hattiloo Theatre on the 4th Sunday of every month from 7 to 9pm. For more information, go to our MySpace. If you would like us to re post your gig or event at a Memphis venue, you can email nitab@memphisoriginals.com. We will do our best to help promote you by posting your gig or event on our myspace calendar. MO's Entertainment Association, a non-profit corporation, has been formed. It is a membership association which exists to foster and promote traditional, contemporary and multicultural music, film, visual arts and crafts, writings, fashion, culinary arts and related creative arts industries year round. A benefit held on Sunday, Aug. 4th, 2008 raised seed money which was used to apply for a 501 c 3 non profit status through the NA Folk Alliance. We received this tax-deductible status in October of 2008. If you are interested in more information or would like to donate please email nitab@memphisoriginals.com or attend one of our Open Mics or other events. Donations will be used for the following projects: fund small grants to independent artists in the Memphis area, produce an online newsletter to promote local artists, sponsor periodic art shows in the Memphis area, and periodically produce a compilation CD to be marketed as part of a Memphis Gift Basket.
